Before the iPhone, the market was flooded with plenty of other handheld devices by manufacturers that did not question what a handheld device should be, and could be. Apple questioned all aspects of design and function, thus revolutionizing the phone.</description>

In your example about Apple, I would argue that the market is buying a lot more then the product. They are buying into the successful brand Apple has created.

There&#039;s no secret that each time a new Apple product comes out the majority who buy it are incredibly loyal to Apple&#039;s brand (regardless of what the product is!).

I would also argue that before the iPhone, there wasn&#039;t anything quite like it. So, I think what Apple again did well as a company was to build brand equity and anticipation so that customers would automatically want to buy it.</description>
